The Coastal Challenge is a six-day stage race along the Pacific coast, run since 2005. Its site has to sell the race to runners on other continents, answer the questions they ask before they commit, and take them to registration without losing anyone on the way.

What was built

A static site of 26 pages in English and Spanish: the route stage by stage, categories and cut-offs, lodging, past champions, and a “Race Concierge” that answers questions about the race in any language. Kilometres and miles switch with one tap. Registration hands off to the organiser’s existing platform.

How

Next.js 15.3 with next-intl for the two languages, deployed on Vercel. Every page is rendered at build time, so the site serves the same fast HTML whether a runner is in Oslo or Osaka.

Result

Accessibility, best practices and SEO each score 100 in Lighthouse, with no layout shift. The organiser edits copy in the repository; a change is live within minutes.
